1. Clean your skin
• To keep the skin of the amputee's stump in good condition, the following should be done every night:
1. Use warm water and neutral soap to clean the skin of the stump.
2. Rinsed the stump thoroughly, avoid soap irritation of the skin, do not soak the stump in warm water for a long time, because it can make the skin soften and cause edema.
3. Dry the skin thoroughly, avoid hard friction which will irritate the skin.
Points for attention:
• Gently massage the stump several times a day. This will help reduce the sensitivity of the stump and increase tolerance to stress.
• Avoid shaving and scraping the skin of the stump or using detergents and skin creams, as they may irritate the skin and cause rashes.
Two, wrapped the stump
• Wrapped with an elastic bandage, the stump is shrunk and shaped in preparation for prosthesis.
• Use a dry bandage and the stump should also be dry.
• Wear elastic bandages at all times (day and night) except when bathing, massaging, or exercising the stump.
Wrapping method:
1. The elastic bandage should be wound in an oblique shape, rather than in a horizontal loop.
2. Do not wrap around the end of the stump in one direction, which is easy to cause skin wrinkles in the scar, and should alternately cover the medial and lateral sides for continuous winding.
3. Continue to wrap in an oblique shape, and the end of the stump should be firmly wrapped with pressure as far as possible.
4. When wrapping to the thigh, the bandage pressure should be gradually reduced.
5. The bandage wrap should extend above the knee joint, at least one circle above the kneecap.
6. Return below the knee joint, and if any bandage remains, it should end diagonally above the end of the stump. Secure the bandage with tape and avoid using pins. Rewrap the stump every 3 to 4 hours. If the bandage slips or becomes pleated, it should be rewrapped at any time.
Three, the treatment of elastic bandages
• Use a clean elastic bandage to help prevent skin problems.
• Elastic bandages should be washed when used for more than 48 hours. Wash the elastic bandage by hand with neutral soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly with water. Do not twist the bandage.
• Lay the elastic bandage flat on a smooth surface to dry so as not to damage the elasticity. Avoid direct thermal radiation and sun exposure. Do not place in dryer; Do not hang to dry.
Four, the body position should be done after amputation
1, lie on your back
This is the position you should adopt whenever you are lying on your back: lie on a hard bed, do not place a pillow under the stump, keep the stump flat on the bed with the knee straight, and keep the legs together.
2, prone position
When you lie in prone position, you should adopt the following position: Lie on a hard bed, keep your hips flat on the bed, straighten your knees, and bring your legs together.
3, seat
Avoid sitting for a long time. Pay attention to the following when sitting: Sit on a hard chair with your body straight and your center of gravity resting on your hips. Keep your knees straight,
3. Avoid crossing your legs.
