How to wear SoftskinAir silicone liner imported from Germany?

Roll the liner out. Place the distal end of the liner on the end of the residual limb. Slide the liner with both hands over the leg without pulling. The liner plate should be aligned in extension of the lower leg stump (especially by using a liner with distal connection). Otherwise, rool up the liner again.

Activation of the micro-pores at Softskin Air

All Softskin Air liner have micro-pores in the silicone material to transport moisture and/or air away from the skin. With a newly used liner, it may happen that this initially does not work properly. The cause lies in the inherently high adhesion tendency of the silicone material. The strong period of the liner from production to application on the patient can lead to clothing of the micro-pores by the sticking habits of the silicone. By pouring water in the liner, you can easily test whether moisture penetrates through the micro-pores.

1. Roll the liner several times from different sides onto the liner stand.

2. Twist the liner several times in alternating directions.

3. Turn the inside of the liner outward, and twist the liner several times in alternating directions.

4 Fill the liner half (maximum) with water. Roll the upper end to close the liner until pressure occurs on the trapped water.

5. With successful activation of the micro-pores, water drops will leak on the outside.

General safety instructions

Before using the liner the following contraindications must be considered.

1. Allergic reaction to the own sweat.

2. Problem or unhealed wounds.

3. Skin necrosis, distal end sensitivity to pressure.

4. Other skin problems.

Note:

Avoid direct contact with the wounds;

Select the size which matches the measured circumference and not a bigger size of the liner.

A liner which is proximal not cut enough could reduce the vacuum effect.

Do not applying the liner like a stocking.

Be careful not to damage the liner with your fingernails!

The liner should be dried in a drying machine. Use only a fluffless towel to dry the liner.

Keep in mind that many soaps, deodorants, perfumes, sprays and sprays containing alcohol can cause irritation of the skin.

After opening the foil you have to pay a cleaning fee if you want to exchange.

Softskin Air cleaning

1. The liners should be cleaned after every use and at least once a day. Place the liner inside out and clean it thoroughly with a mild soap. Rinse with warm water.

2. The micro-pores can also be rinsed. Therefore please fill the liner halfway with warm water, roll up the end of the liner, so that the liner is sealed. Now press the water through the pores using a gentle pressure.

 3. The liner can also be washed in the washing machine (please use a cotton bag) at 30℃ in a delicate cycle utilizing a mild detergent. After washing the liner check the liner for cracks.
